Sarkara, a horn-back gator design, is produced entirely by hand using old artisan techniques. It is created on premium European top-grain cowhides using a specific tanning process which ensures that the leather will retain its decorative embossing for years to come. In order to accommodate the concave/convex embossing molds, Sarkara comes in half hides. The pattern repeat of 18 L x 12 W causes the need for careful calculation with regards to coverage requirements and waste allowance. Sarkara is layered with water-based finishes and glazes that give this leather its rich deep color. A clear water-based top coat is applied for protection. All finishes are applied by hand. Inconsistencies caused by natural markings such as healed scars, scratches, neck and belly wrinkles are apparent throughout each hide and should be appreciated. Like most pure aniline leathers prolonged exposure to light will cause them to fade. .
